Halloween 2026 is on Saturday, October 31. There are 29 days left, which makes this a short campaign. Below are three countdowns ready to copy and the generator already set to that date, so you can start today and spend the time on the offer.

NRF's 2026 survey expects Halloween spending of $13.5 billion, with 74% of consumers planning to celebrate. About half (49%) started shopping in September or earlier. The other half hadn't started yet when the survey ran, and that's who an October countdown email is for.

This page keeps its address every year. In 2027, Halloween falls on Sunday, October 31.

Copying creates your timer: free, no signup and editable from this browser.

All three count down to October 31 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern. For a shipping cutoff or a sale that ends on Halloween night, change the date and time in the generator before you copy the code.

Copy the HTML if your ESP has a code block, or the URL if it only accepts images by link. All three styles are on the free plan.

    Three different Halloween deadlines

Halloween emails usually count to one of three moments, and each needs its own timer:

    All three are fixed dates

Each of those deadlines is the same moment for your whole list, so each takes a fixed-date timer. A signup coupon for people who join during October is the one place for an evergreen timer.

Suggested send schedule for a short run-up

The 2026 dates below are an example for a campaign that starts in early October. Next year, keep the same distance from the 31st.

    Email When Timer Why
Launch As soon as the offer is ready (the 2026 example assumes Monday, October 5) Fixed, to your costume cutoff The earlier it goes out, the more days shoppers have to order
Reminder Tuesday, October 20 The same timer Rendered at open, so it shows fewer days
Last shipping day Cutoff day, morning (for example, Monday, October 26) The same timer It now shows hours
Halloween weekend Thursday, October 29 Fixed, to October 31 at 11:59 p.m. Digital downloads, gift cards and in-store pickup still make it
Clearance Sunday, November 1 A new timer with its own end Leftover stock gets its own deadline
New subscribers On signup Per-recipient evergreen (Starter) Each person gets their own window

After Halloween, the next big date is Black Friday, on November 27.

    Mistakes to avoid this October

One timer for every email. The costume cutoff and the Halloween night close are different moments. If one timer covers both, either the early emails promise too much or the late ones end too soon.

"Happy Halloween!" on a shipping cutoff. A reader who opens the launch email on October 28 would see a greeting when the real news is that shipping has closed. Write "Costume shipping has closed" and point to what's still available.

Apple Mail. Mail Privacy Protection downloads images in the background when the email arrives, whether or not it's opened, so the GIF may show the time at delivery. With deadlines this close together, write the date and hour in the email too.

Forgetting the clearance. If you plan to clear leftover Halloween stock, create its timer before the 31st so the November 1 email is ready that morning.

Extending the cutoff. If your carrier gives you an extra day, edit the timer. Emails already sent will show the new time, because the image is generated on every open.

    Paste it into your ESP

Any platform that accepts an HTML block or an image by URL will work. Our guides for Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot and Shopify Email show where the block goes and how to test it.

With a short campaign there's little room for a broken email, so send a test to Gmail and Outlook before the launch.

    Common questions

    What day is Halloween 2026?

Saturday, October 31, 2026. In 2027 it falls on Sunday, October 31.

Is it too late to start a Halloween campaign in October?

No. NRF's 2026 survey found that about half of consumers (49%) began Halloween shopping in September or earlier, so the other half hadn't. A short campaign with one clear deadline is built for them.

Should the timer end at the start or the end of October 31?

It depends on the email. The ready-made timers count to 12:00 a.m. on the 31st, which suits a greeting or a teaser. A sale that runs through Halloween night should end at 11:59 p.m. that day, and a costume shipping cutoff ends days earlier.

What happens when it reaches zero?

The GIF shows the message you wrote, such as Happy Halloween! or Costume shipping has closed, or a 1 pixel transparent image if you'd rather it disappear.

    Does it animate in Outlook?

Microsoft says Outlook for Microsoft 365, 2021 and 2024 play animated GIFs by default. With Windows animations off, or in Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013, readers see the first frame, which shows the time left at open.

Can I reuse my timer next year?

Create a new one. Halloween 2027 falls on Sunday, October 31, and editing the 2026 timer would also change the emails you sent this year, because the image is generated on every open.
