A Mailtimers alternative for your email countdown timers

In short

Mailtimers fits if you don't mind its branding: it gives 100,000 free views a month, and Klaviyo's help center uses it as the example. Kauntodaun fits better if you want an unbranded GIF with no signup up to 25,000 impressions per timer, countdowns longer than 30 days for free, or per-recipient evergreen timers from $7 a month.

The Kauntodaun team wrote this page, so we'd like you to pick us. That's why every Mailtimers figure comes from its homepage and pricing page, read on October 1, 2026, and there's a whole section on what Mailtimers does better than we do.

    How to move from Mailtimers to Kauntodaun

    1. Make a list. Note the scheduled campaigns and flows that use a Mailtimers timer. Emails that already went out can't be changed.

    2. Recreate the timer. For a fixed date, use the same date and time zone. For an evergreen timer, create one with the same duration. Copy the design and the expired message too.

    3. Copy the code. The HTML tab is for an HTML block; the URL tab, for an image block. In Klaviyo, use the Klaviyo tab.

    4. Swap the image. In each email, find the <img> tag whose src points to Mailtimers and put in the Kauntodaun URL, or replace the whole HTML block with ours. In a flow, repeat it for every email.

    5. Add your ESP's merge tag if you want a deadline per person (Starter plan):

      • Klaviyo: ?rid={{ person.KlaviyoID }}
      • Mailchimp: ?rid=*|UNIQID|*
      • HubSpot: ?rid={{ contact.hs_object_id }} (its docs don't say whether it's replaced inside the HTML module; test it)
      • Brevo: ?rid={{ contact.EMAIL }}
      • MailerLite: ?rid={$email}
      • Omnisend: ?rid=[[contact.email]]

      Other platforms are on the evergreen countdown timer page.

    6. Test before sending. In your ESP's preview the merge tag usually arrives unreplaced; the engine ignores it and you'll see the full duration. Send yourself a test email, open it, wait a few minutes and open it again. With a per-person deadline, the second open should show less time.

    7. Don't close Mailtimers yet. Emails already sent keep loading the GIF from Mailtimers. Keep the account until those timers expire.

    Step-by-step instructions for each platform are in our Klaviyo, Mailchimp and Brevo guides.

    How we checked

    We read the Mailtimers homepage and pricing page on October 1, 2026, taking the included and not-included marks in its table from the HTML. Its page renders prices with JavaScript, so we queried Paddle's public price API with its product IDs, for a US customer. We didn't create a Mailtimers account or test its timers from the inside. Kauntodaun's figures come from our plan and engine documentation.

    We review this page every three months. Mailtimers also appears next to six other tools in our comparison of free email countdown timers.

    Common questions

    Does Mailtimers brand its free plan?

    Its pricing table marks "Branding Removed" as included only on paid plans, so the free plan carries its branding. Kauntodaun adds no branding up to 25,000 impressions a month per timer, and above that adds a small line of text.

    Why does Mailtimers say $7.99 when this page says $9.95?

    The FAQ on its site says "starting at just $7.99". The prices it charges come from Paddle, its payment platform: Startup costs $9.95 a month, or $8 a month billed annually, taxes included.

    Can I make a countdown longer than 30 days for free?

    Not on Mailtimers: its free plan caps timers at 30 days. On Kauntodaun's free plan you can set a date up to 10 years ahead.

    Does Kauntodaun work in Klaviyo the way Mailtimers does?

    Yes. Klaviyo has no built-in countdown, and its help center says to paste a third-party tool's HTML into an HTML block. Our generator has a tab with code ready for Klaviyo.

    Will emails I already sent with Mailtimers keep working if I switch?

    Yes, as long as your Mailtimers account stays active: those emails load the image from its servers and can't be edited. Keep the account until those timers expire.

    What replaces Mailtimers' evergreen timer in Kauntodaun?

    Our evergreen timer. On the free plan it counts from each open. The version that locks each person's deadline at their first open needs the Starter plan and your ESP's merge tag in the URL. We don't have an evergreen timer that counts from the send.
